Our client operates in the retail industry, with a number of sites mainly in the CBD.
Client Goals
With an Electricity and Gas spend of over $1m p.a., clearly in a competitive market, cost minimisation was important. That coupled with the reality that they were about to be hit with penalty rates (contract about to end) meant we had to move quickly.
Project Summary and outcome.
Time constraints meant that we could not initially arrange a full market test, so using our industry contacts, a direct negotiation with the supply retailer was undertaken initially. The outcome was the removal of the penalty rate threat (cost would have been $100k plus), together with a saving of over 15% on the ten current rates.
